St. Augustine or Zoysia. Both handle partial shade better than Bermuda or Centipede. Floratam St. Augustine is the most common choice in Southwest Louisiana for shaded yards.

Full Sun with Heavy Traffic

Bermuda. It recovers fast from wear and thrives in full sun. Good for yards with kids, dogs, or heavy foot traffic. Also the choice for athletic fields.

Low Maintenance

Centipede. It grows slowly and needs less mowing and fertilizer than other varieties. Called Lazy Man's Grass for a reason. Not the best for high traffic, but easy to keep up.
